Labor Day Weekend with Family

My dad and stepmom came to visit for Labor Day weekend.  We decided that it would be fun to spend another Saturday up at Tahoe.  It was windier that day so the boys were not as excited about being in the water.  It was still a nice sunny day however and as always the scenery in Tahoe was beautiful.

My parents had not been up to visit since the boys' birthday in March.  It was great having a three day weekend together because of the holiday.  It was still pretty hot during the day time so it really limited what we could do with the boys outside.  One night we went to a local park in the evening to let the boys run around and we also went to the capitol in Carson City and walked the grounds.  The boys simply love being outside and want to be around grass and trees.  Abraham can be pretty effusive with his "go, go, go!"

The entire weekend I was having a major blond moment because I kept leaving our DSLR at home.  Thank goodness for cell phone cameras!  All of the following pics are from my phone and several are Instagrams.  If any blog followers are on Instagram, please feel free to look me up.  My user name is clayfornoblepurpose.

It is always hard to say good-bye to family and after this most recent visit I think it was especially hard.  We had such a relaxing pleasant weekend and the boys are at an age where they attach easily to people. It was sweet seeing how they each loved being with their Grandpa Sid and Grandma Anne.

 

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

This past weekend we had a chance to visit with Eric's aunt and uncle and cousins. We do not get to see one another nearly enough. Eric's cousin Amy and her husband Jon have a little girl that was born the same month as Abraham and Winston. The boys had fun playing with little Lorelai. We are all looking forward to going to Sunriver and spending more time together.

Cascade Lake

We had a busy weekend with a graduation and birthday party.  The boys had so much fun yesterday afternoon that they completely skipped their afternoon nap.  Fortunately there were no melt downs but I am not thinking I want to over extend them like that too frequently.

Today was much less frenetic and we got to enjoy the great outdoors.  It was windy yesterday but today was nice and warm.  After church we headed up to Cascade Lake which is right near Lake Tahoe.  Our friends' landlords have a small cabin on the lake and we were invited to spend the afternoon there. Eric's parents' also came and we had a nice family day.  Since there is only access to the lake through the landowners, it was quiet and peaceful.  It was absolutely beautiful and serene.  I am amazed at how we can drive such short distances and feel so far from the rest of civilization and in the middle of raw nature.  The boys LOVE being outside and were all about playing in the dirt.  Abraham and Winston are becoming such big boys learning to walk and exploring everything around them.  Our little guys actually turned fifteen months old today so I will be doing their monthly post this week.

Mr. Mom No More

So the exciting news in our neck of the woods is that Eric is starting a new job! Praise God! We know that we are very blessed to have Eric gainfully employed again only a short number of weeks after losing his job. It is something we do not take for granted and we see God’s sovereignty in all His dealings with us. Eric starts his new job on Monday so that would make today his last day as a stay at home parent. So many things have changed in the last five weeks for our family and I know we are still trying to absorb the reality of it all. Even though Eric has been reading through his employee handbook and signing paperwork, I know these realities are not going to hit us for a little while longer. With his new job, Eric will be traveling a fair amount and we both agreed that when he goes away for the first time, all of this will really start to settle in. Eric loves to travel (we both do actually) so I know he is as excited as a little kid to start this next venture in life. Obviously the boys and I will miss him when he is gone but all the positives of his new position far outweigh the inconvenience of him being gone on occasion.

So tomorrow we are going to have a family shopping day and go to Reno to get stuff for Eric’s new job. He needs steel toe boots, wool socks and some warmer clothing because he will be in the Nevada mining territory and it gets crazy cold in the mountains here in the winter. The boys are at an age that it is getting easier to take them places. This will be our first major shopping outing with the babies. We have done all of our major shopping independently sans babies since they were born so this should be interesting. Our thought was that the boys can nap on the drive to Reno and back which is a good amount of time. I am looking forward to spending the day with all of us together. Normally the only public place the boys go is church where most people are very familiar with them so I know tomorrow we will be fielding a lot of “Are they twins?” questions and all the ensuing comments. And I think I am up for that tomorrow because I am feeling so happy and positive about life and am so proud of my growing family. Yes, they are twins. Yes, I am very busy. They are almost seven months old. Yes, they are identical. I can tell them apart quite easily actually. No, they were not premature. No, they are quite different in their personalities. Oh, your son’s teacher’s cousin’s pastor and his wife have twins also? Oh, but they are fraternal boy/girl twins? Awesome. My MoM friends know exactly what I am talking about.

Thanks to those that prayed for us during Eric’s period of unemployment and that he would be able to get the job that he now has. We really do appreciate it. Please continue to pray for us because we have some big decisions coming up regarding my job and child care for our dear boys. The year 2011 is proving to be a really big year in the Guddat household and we are continuously excited about the future.

The Weekend

This past weekend I played Bunko on Friday night. Our Bunko group is comprised of mostly Christian ladies from our area and I always feel refreshed after getting to hang out with these women. I enjoy the conversations and the different stages of life we are all in. Eric encourages me to go and obviously stays with our little munchkins so that I can participate. He is wonderful :-)

Once I got going after I made some coffee, I made the boys enough yams to get them through high school I believe.
